I’m excited to share Bone Dragon kit review from the Tomb Kings Army, a standout model in The Old World Warhammer game which was sent to me by Games Workshop.
In the Tomb Kings Army box, the Dragon Kit steals the show, it superior detail and an impressive design that makes it the box’s centerpiece.
The kit’s customisation options are particularly good. Deciding whether to top your dragon with a High Priest or a Tomb Prince can significantly change the model’s character, offering a personal touch to the final piece. I went for the High Priest!
The Tomb Prince is a standing model, so if you don’t stick him on your model then you can use him spare for another piece. (I chose to have him on his own, accompanied by one of the undead cats!)
The reason I mention this is because the Priest is sort-of squatting-sitting down a little, so if you don’t have him as your Bone Dragon rider, he’s a little awkward to have a standing model for other purposes, unless you want him somewhere answering an urgent undead call of nature…
During assembly, I faced a couple of challenges. Fitting the dragon’s bangles was trickier than expected. They required some careful filling and sanding to sit perfectly. Moreover, there was a little mishap with the book accessory – I initially glued it upside down due to an unclear connecting point.
The dragon’s construction was enjoyable overall. The precision of the parts, especially the head fitting snugly without glue, showcased excellent design. However, a word of caution: be attentive to the specific parts like the arms and cloak of the Tomb Prince. They are unique to each model variant, and mixing them can lead to confusion.
For painting, I plan to take inspiration from the 2D artwork on the box. I’m aiming for a weathered look and look forward to showing you a few tips and tricks on using the same techniques on your own models.
To sum up my Bone Dragon Kit Review, the The Old World Warhammer game has some great customisation and models on offer and the Bone Dragon a striking model (and definitely my favourite, so far!) I can’t wait to paint him!
